How Daniel coaches professional athletes from anywhere in the world

Daniel Day is a remote strength and conditioning coach and the founder of CRFTD Athlete. In Relay he built an exercise library he filmed himself and tagged by the quality each exercise trains. He builds each workout block by block, saves what he reuses as templates, and uses an AI assistant connected to his account for large calendar changes.

Coaching from wherever he is#

Daniel Day (@crftd.athlete) is a remote strength and conditioning coach and the founder of CRFTD Athlete. He programs for professional athletes. They travel, and so does he.

Some weeks he flies out to coach in person. The clip below is from a trip to Greece. Most weeks he coaches remotely, and his athletes train on their own schedules.

That freedom is why he coaches the way he does, and he wants to keep it.

"You guys are helping me keep the freedom that I have, and I enjoy to be able to work remotely and do it at a really high level."

He built the library first#

Before he wrote a single workout, Daniel set up his exercise library. He types in an exercise and AI autofill adds the muscle groups and the other details.

"You do it once, and then you add a few as you go."

He tags each exercise by the quality it trains, such as braking. When he wants that quality in a workout, he searches the tag. He filmed every video himself. His athletes are often on another continent, so the video has to show what he would otherwise show them in the gym.

How he builds a workout#

Daniel plans the blocks in his head first. Then he builds them in Relay and sets the sets and reps. He saves anything he reuses as a template.

"You literally open your laptop, hit a few buttons, close it."

What the assistant does#

Daniel connected an AI assistant to his Relay account. It reads what his athletes logged and sums it up for him. He decides the next phase himself, and the assistant writes his changes into every athlete's calendar.

"Large program or calendar changes that would otherwise take hours get done in minutes."

His athletes get the workouts on their phones, with his videos and notes. What they log goes into the next review.

Close to his athletes, from anywhere#

"Relay Athletic connects the dots of remote programming. Its clear organization and direction let me administer a high level program and bring me as close to my athletes as possible. It's like I'm right there with them."
